What is temp.files?
(aka Temporary Files)
A video publishing cooperative, online publication, streaming site, and remote residency.
Who are we?
Initiated by a media artist, Tusia Dabrowska, and interdisciplinary artist/curator, Michelle Levy, temp.files is an
expanding and rotating group of artists working between text, social engagement, performance and media, committed to supporting each other in the process of creating new, experimental work.
Why are we doing this?
We began in a moment where we could no longer rely solely on established IRL spaces to see, discuss, create, and disseminate art, so we created our own platforms and opportunities for support. We continue these practices of supportive generation, as we also reincorporate IRL screenings and gatherings.
How does it work?
The structure varies for each season, but always includes time for artists to share the process of ideation, production, and post-production, all around a central theme that either emerges organically through the process, or is selected and explored at the season’s launch. The resulting works are temporarily available for viewing here, at the cooperative website, and in select screenings. Interviews with newly joined artists, conducted by another member of the group, will be published along with the season’s works.
