Nung-Hsin Hu, A Strange Loop, 2024, 07:24 minutes

A Strange Loop was created during the artist's pregnancy through to the early postpartum period, a transformative moment from singular to plural, both physically and psychologically. The artist documented the shifting form of her body to portray what seemed like a personal yet universal motherhood experience.

She also applies spinning motion and utilizes a domestic setting as her stage to perform the repetitive cycles of daily routines and her circular life status. This project also touches on the subject of “home” which continues from “Amateur Dweller”- the artist’s previous video produced in Temp. File Season 2 where her childhood home is occupied by a real estate agency, and now she is rebuilding one through her body to form a strange loop.

Temp. Files: Season 3: TRANSFORMATION is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC).
